Jarkko Nieminen wins Sydney ATP title!
Sydney, Australia - Jarkko Nieminen just won the singles title at the Apia International Sydney, an ATP 250 event and a "warm up" tournament for the Australian Open. Jarkko played outstanding tennis for the entire week and became the first qualifier to win a tournament in the ATP since 2009. Jarkko is in good company as winner of the Sydney Apia International; previous winners include Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, and Lleyton Hewitt.
This is Jarkko's second ATP title and propels the Finn to the start of great 2012. Jarkko was also in the final of the doubles but had to bow to the Bryan brothers. Nieminen this time did not have too much time to celebrate has he's already in Melbourne to play his first round match at the Australian Open.
